Lunchtime in the library

May 28, 2008

Hey people!

It’s lunchtime right now and I’m in the library. I only have two more periods left until school ends. First Arabic with Mr. Othman and then Math with Mr. Cockburn.  Rawan and Layanne are studying French because Rawan has a French test next period.

And speaking of exams, our finals are coming up in two weeks (we have one more week and the week afterwards is exams) We already have our exam schedules and everything. You want to know what is the best part about exams? We leave school at noon!

Even better, the week after exams is the last week of school! Anyways, I’d better start studying!

hello again!

May 24, 2008

Hey people!

Sorry I hadn’t written in a while. I have finals coming up soon so I’m studying like crazy. Anyways, I got in ASD! I’m on the waiting list though but the important thing is that I got in. I was there today, actually. I had this Girl Scout End of Year Ceremony and it was in the dining hall (which is so cool. They have a coffee shop in their cafeteria!) at ASD and only Michael, her little sister Isis and her mom AmyLola, Louise and her mom Patricia and me that showed up for the event. It was long but I enjoyed it. I bumped into Alley, a younger girl from church that I know (I knew she was in Girl Scouts before. I saw at this campout) and she is really nice. After the event, we talked about we were going to do next year as far as Girl Scouts is concerned. Louise and I also walked around the school and talked.

I’m so glad it’s almost the end of the year because I can’t wait until summer vacation!

ASD’s Middle School Spring Concert

May 16, 2008

I didn’t go to church today. Not that I didn’t want to go (trust me I wanted to go) but I can’t because I’m afraid I’ll just annoy C so it’s better not to go at all. However, I did see him last night at ASD’s Spring Concert. I sat next to his family during the concert and chatted with them. I also saw Michael, her little sister Isis, Alex and her little sister Asia and Abi. I was also looking for my other friend Sheena but no such luck. The concert was really good. I certainly enjoyed it a lot. The students are all so talented! The middle school choir performed as well as the sixth grade band, the middle school concert band and the middle school instrumental band. The venue for the concert, the new theatre, is absolutely stunning. I love it!

After the concert, I bumped into Sven and Ingrid during the reception in the dining hall. We talked for a bit as well and then I later talked to (and congratulated) Abi, Alex, Michael and so on. I didn’t talk to C but I wanted to congratulate him on his amazing performance as well. He is an excellent percussionist (and I’m not saying that only because I like him. I’m saying it because it’s true!) He played the drums for the first time. The song he played was called ‘Juju Dance’ and he looked like he was born to play the drums!

Well, I’d better stop gushing and start studying for my finals!

church (and my birthday!)

May 9, 2008

Alright! I’m officially 14. Yay!

Anyways, today at church C and his dad showed up today. C was looking as gorgeous as ever. Is it possible for someone to get gorgeous by the minute? I think so. Astrid and her family came too. Nasriana and Catherine also came. Since today is Pentecost, people got confirmed including Astrid’s brothers Sven and Leif. Jacob, C’s friend, also got confirmed as well. It’s all pretty exciting. I just wished I spent some more time there so I could see C. I only get to see him once a week! I finally talked to him today as well. It was a very short conversation though. God, I miss him so much!

I got a party to plan! More later!

Science class

May 8, 2008

Hey people! Thank god I finished my plan for my science essay so I can write in my blog. I have Layanne next to me, working as hard as ever on her essay. Actually, she is just make a few changes to her old essay on acid rain (we are doing enviromental problems in science. My essay is going to be about global warming) from sixth grade. Well, at least she is prepared!! I’m sure she’ll get a good grade like always.

I’m so excited about tomorrow. Not only because it’s Friday, but because it’s my birthday. And not only that, I get to see C on my birthday. How lucky can a girl be? Pretty lucky, in my case! I’m excited. I mean, who wouldn’t be?  Anyways, I’ve got some other things I need to work on!

my testing

May 4, 2008

So this morning I was at ASD for my testing, and I’m happy to say that I think I did I really well. While I was waiting for my test to start, guess who I bumped into? Catherine and her mom! It was nice to see someone I know. Anyways, the English test I think I did really well in (English is one of my favorite subjects. I love writing but I think you noticed that already!) but some questions I answered, I’m not sure about but I know I did OK. The math test I think I did OK. I didn’t answer every question on the test (we weren’t expected to) but I answered most of the test to the best of my ability so I feel really confident. I really hope I do get in!

After the testing, my mom and I went to Villagio, a shopping mall, to go shopping for my dress, which is totally gorgeous. It’s black and white and it’s very classy and elegant.  Too bad it’s an evening dress because I really want to wear it to church so can see it! Anyways, after we got the dress, we went looking for some shoes but no such luck. In the end, I decided that I’m going to wear black ballet flats.  And after that, we got Krispy Kreme doughnuts (Yum!) and went home. My mom and I are going to watch Gilmore Girls now!

church

May 2, 2008

C and his family came this morning and C looked amazing as ever. Duh. Astrid (and her family, of course!) finally came this morning! I’m so happy. And she is going to be at church next week, which is my birthday. The two indentical twins Lauren and Samantha as well as Catherine were at church. There is also a book and bake sale today for the church after the service. All the money is going to the building project for our church and so far I donated 220 Qatari Riyals (QR) I talked to Father Bill and told him that next week was my birthday. Also next week at church, we are going to have a few visitors and some confirmation classes and the blessing of the church building site. It’s going to be a very busy Friday next Friday for the church. It’s also going to be a busy day for me too because I have a totally awesome party to plan. I’m so excited!

Yesterday at Girl Scout at Alex’s place, we researched dog and cat diets and guinea pigs. Did you know that the guinea pig was used in some religious ceremonies? I didn’t! Michael, Alex and I washed Alex’s  dogs and before that, the guinea pigs (She also has some cats as well. Her house is like a zoo. I love it!) We all got wet washing the dogs but it was fun but Michael had a cold. Poor thing. I hope she feels better. After we washed the dogs, we dried off, had pizza and hung out at Alex’s a bit longer and than went to Michael’s place for a sleepover and than went home early in the morning (at 7) to change and go to church.

Not only did we do research on dog and cat diets and guinea pigs but also animal rights here in Qatar. Did you know if beat or overexhaust an animal, it’s only 200 Riyals, compared to doing an illegal U-turn, which is, like, 10, 000 Riyals?  I can’t believe it’s only 200 Riyals for beating an animal. It should be 10, 000 Riyals and the U-turn should be 200 Riyals.

Anyways, I have a bunch of tests next week that I need to study for. I’ll keep you posted!
